With Halloween time nearing, John Dewey is hosting one of its most fun events of the season with Fright Fest. Not only are events planned in the building, but outside of it too. Weeks of planning, done by Ms. Escalara and other staff have gone into one of the most packed events of every school year. The Fright Fest trip to Six Flags in New Jersey.
On October 20th, the seniors of John Dewey went to Six Flags. This year the tickets were $143, and the staff have promoted that it’ll be worth every penny. John Dewey completely filled the bus as dozens of tickets were exclusively sold out to seniors. The trip is from 5pm all the way to midnight. Seniors are expected to have fun and gain many new experiences to kick off their senior year. For next year, it’s expected that juniors go and experience this once in a lifetime opportunity. Fright Fest is to be considered seniors once in a lifetime opportunity to attend.
Ms. Fisher, an experienced professional dancer with decades worth of dance nourishment to those who seek, is one of many staff chaperoning the event. This will be her third time going in a row, as she enjoys every ghostly moment. One thing that she emphasized is that each trip consists of a lot of fun. Each year, she has a plethora of fun along with the seniors attending and she doesn’t even go on the rides. The sight of our fellow seniors being chased and frightened is enough joy for her. The ticket includes various benefits according to Ms. Fisher: “Round trip bussing, dinner tickets, and event tickets for the Haunted House”. For only $143 it’s an inclusive package. Ms. Fisher encourages Juniors to get hyped, for next year’s opportunity.
Ms. Esculara, the host of the trip, is well experienced and plans Dewey events for seniors annually. Some might ask, “why should I go to this fright event?”. Well, Ms. Esculara says “It’s a very cost effective trip”, for $143 you would definitely crush those once in a lifetime moments, afterall you can’t put a price on memories. Halloween is right around the corner, having deep connective memories with your dewey peers in that spooky environment is definitely a unique moment. Ms. Esculara mentions how “Nothing is more fun than to watch students & staff get scared.”. Some staff members chaperoning the event included Mr. Prempeh, Ms. Ginette, and Ms. Fisher.
Arlite Dyasi, a senior who attended the trip, provided us with a sneak peek of what some may have missed out on: “Constantly chased by those clowns, very smart actors, one chase led to another.” Experiencing Fright Fest in a safe and engaging environment is one of many benefits that Six Flags offers. An honorable mention to the “Green Lantern”, the way Arlite described it was definitely unique, as you stand while going through constant loops. The Fright Fest was rightfully planned, “Very hyped, but better than expected. Absolutely recommended, 100%” as Dyasi guarantees. Arlite highly recommends the upcoming seniors to consider and even attend this once in a lifetime event.
