As Seniors reach the end of their year of John Dewey High School, many wonder how the yearbook will have captured their experience for the 2023-2024 school year.
Yearbooks capture some of the most significant moments of your high school years. Not only that, but seniors will also be able to dress up for their own photos during what is being dubbed as ‘Yearbook Committee Week”- and these photos will be shown for other seniors to see you in your glamorous outfits!
There are special Senior days where you get to dress up- similar to the Halloween Senior photos. Senior graduation photos can be taken in room 136 or for more information about it, you can go to room 369, 226 or 163.
Though during these festivities, there might be questions about the yearbook pictures such as if there will be makeup dates, and if so- what are the dates?
Students of the Yearbook committee, Ailin Cobos answered “Yes, there are going to be make up dates and the dates are usually around December to January.”
So do not worry about if you are going to miss out on the yearbook for your graduation photos the first time although there isn’t a exact date, make sure to look at your email every once and a while to see if there is an announcement on it. However, if you are going to miss out on your timely graduation photos, retakes are at least 20 dollars.
Speaking of Senior week/Themed Events for dress up, is there a dress code or anything that you should not wear?
Yearbook committee senior Shreeya Thakyr responded that “You can wear whatever you want, the yearbook is supposed to be for dressing the way you want to for your own yearbook.”
Seniors may be worried about how fancy they want to dress up as or how ugly they dress up as. It is indeed your yearbook so you can do anything with it, only implying that there are themes like pajamas day. These photos show the moments where you are yourself, where you exude confidence even if you don’t think so or have any.
There might be a moment though there people do not think yearbooks are all that important whether it be freshmen’s coming out of middle school, or juniors soon becoming seniors. Though why are yearbook photos so important? What does the yearbook truly mean to our graduating seniors?
“It’s very important because it really captures the memories and moments you had at the time of this school. It’s also very important to look good in your graduation photos” senior Hayley Dawes said. Of course! Having a moment and photos to capture all of the memories you have made here is important, whether it be bad or good. It can sure help you reflect many things that have happened and you can look back and see the changes.
Yearbook supervisor Ms. Parker seemed to agree with this perspective, stating that yearbook photos are “Extremely important because it gives students the pictures of their year in school like events and it is something to look back on.”
So indeed, yearbooks are extremely important when it comes to being a senior where in a summary, it gives memories and something you can look back on whether it be negative or positive. It is sure something you can look at and see how far you have come to reach that point. Some might even say that the yearbook is a right of passage for the seniors.
