Beginning Feb 11, John Dewey’s National Arts Honor Society (NAHS) will be selling Valentine’s Day goods through their ‘Send a Heart’ sale in the cafeteria. Send A Heart is a fun and thoughtful way to send a sweet treat and craft of your choice, along with a heartfelt message that can be sent to someone as a surprise.
They are a very easy way to spread kindness and joy. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your appreciation for your friends and that special someone. You can spread that love with a NAHS Valentine’s Day Send A Heart, all for a small price.
First, you need to fill out your Valentine’s name alongside their 3rd period class number, and the name of the teacher whose teaching in that class. The sender’s name isn’t required- it can be sent anonymously.
Afterwards, you have to choose between two types of Send A Heart you can buy. There is a $3 bag which includes Hershey Kisses, mini paper hearts, and a Valentine’s card for you to write your message. The $5 bag on the other hand, includes Hershey Kisses, two crochet hearts, and a Valentines card for your written message.
“We are only including Hershey Kisses, [since] it is more about the craft than the candy,” said Kelly Simonsen, an art teacher and NAHS advisor. “It’s more about how our NAHS students took the time to create some crafts for you to give to someone special.”
If you want any additional handmade crafts, you can add Valentine’s themed bookmarks for $1 each, friendship bracelets for $2 each, small crochet roses for $2 each, and large crochet roses for $4 each. After you submit the information to the NAHS members, they will take your request and it will all be delivered to your Valentine’s on their 3rd period on February 14.
They’re simple, affordable, and meaningful. A small act of kindness can make someone’s day, whether it’s a friend or a crush. This Valentine’s Day, take a moment to spread love and joy with a Send A Heart. A little sweetness goes a long way!
