Seniors at John Dewey High School stepped into the spotlight on December 5 as the YBC hosted its Senior Red Carpet Day, offering personalized photo sessions in Room 136 during periods 6-8.
This year’s Senior Red Carpet Day was more than just a photoshoot, it provided seniors with a special moment to reflect on their high school journey and celebrate the start of their final year.
Each student received a personalized portrait experience, highlighting the accomplishments and pride that define the Class of 2026.
The event reinforced the school’s tradition of honoring seniors as they prepare for life beyond John Dewey High School.
Students often dress up to showcase their personal style, drawing inspiration from artists, fashion designers, and their own cultural backgrounds. “What inspired my red carpet outfit today was a fashion designer named Ana Sui. I just love her style and how she combines vintage pieces to create something beautiful,” shared Christine Beckford. “My tradition inspired me to select this outfit I’m wearing today,” said John Peralta.
Seniors also incorporated meaningful elements into their outfits to create lasting memories. “Yes, actually, these earrings were a gift from a very special person, and I really love them, so I thought they would go perfectly with my outfit,” Christine explained. “There is a personal touch to my outfit today, this red, white, and green ribbon inspired by the Mexican flag,” said Peralta.
The yearbook advisor reflected on how the Red Carpet event is an opportunity to showcase the diverse fashion trends among students. “Red Carpet Day highlights the fashion trends of students in the 2025-2026 school year. This school is so diverse, and you’ll see everything from name brands to unique, personal styles. It’s cool to see how everyone expresses themselves.” the yearbook advisor Mrs. Alteon shared.

The seniors of the Class of 2026 are also preparing for the future, with some excited about what’s to come after graduation, while others are looking forward to entering the next chapter of their lives.
While the transition to adulthood can be daunting, many seniors are eager to start fresh. “High school taught me how to be responsible for college and my future life. The best thing I’m looking forward to is finishing my electrical engineering career, probably through college, and figuring out how the college system works,” said Peralta.
For many students, senior year is about making memories and cherishing the time they have left together. “The highlight of my senior year has been meeting new people. I’ve met some really lovely people and are sweet and getting a job, making money, and living with my four cats,” Beckford shared.
