Since the release of the new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie on December 5th, 2025, the Dewey community has sounded off a variety of reactions- particularly drawing a strong response from our school’s Video Game Club.
The horror film is based on the video game Five Nights at Freddy’s was created by Scott Cawthon. The franchise has remained popular with JDHS students throughout the years, despite the original game being released over a decade ago.
Sophomore Juel Baldwin said that he first found out about the game from his older brother which inspired him to start playing and getting into the Five Nights in Freddy’s lore. His favorite game was FNAF 2 and it even “taught him the importance of not trusting random strangers in real life.”
Mr. Ali, the advisor for the Video Game Club says that his students have been looking forward to the lore in FNAF since the film’s release. “I’ve seen elements of FNAF through music played [the film’s soundtrack], gifts like plushies, and the game being mentioned in conversations,” While Mr. Ali has not seen the new movie, he’s heard “mixed reviews about the film.”
Sophomore Dejon Williams says that he’s made many memories playing the mobile versions of the game with his older brother. He loved the horror and the lore in the FNAF games. Five Nights at Freddy’s meant a lot for Williams since it carries a huge part in his childhood, his love for the game grew more when he started watching FNAF gameplay videos featuring YouTubers like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye.
A FNAF 3 movie is yet to be confirmed, as the success of FNAF 2 in its current box office run will determine if there is another sequel.
